Description

William Grant, having learned distilling as a bookkeeper at Mortlach, bought a field near Balvenie Castle and opened his second distillery here in 1892, five years after founding neighboring Glenfiddich; still owned by William Grant & Sons, it's known as one of the few Scotch distilleries maintaining its own floor maltings, coppersmith, and cooperage on site.
