Description

Traces to a grocery and wine merchant established in Aberdeen in 1801, later renamed Chivas Brothers when James and John Chivas took it over in 1857; not a distillery itself, but the Scotch whisky arm of Pernod Ricard (owned since 2001), operating roughly 14 Scottish malt distilleries -- including Strathisla, home to the Chivas Regal blend since 1950, plus The Glenlivet and Aberlour -- alongside the Chivas Regal and Ballantine's blended brands.
