Distilled in summer 2009 from Optic barley grown in the farm's south fields, this is Daftmill's first 15-year-old release, vatted from 20 casks (19 first-fill bourbon and one Pedro Ximénez, a first for the distillery) and bottled at what Daftmill calls its "traditional Fife strength." As with all Daftmill age-stated and single-cask releases, the exact bottling proof varies from batch to batch.
A true farm distillery on the Cuthbert family's land in the Howe of Fife, using only barley they grow themselves and water from their own well; production is seasonal (only two months in summer, two in winter, around the farm's needs), and this release, a vatting of seven first-fill bourbon casks, was Daftmill's first whisky sold in the United States.
