Description

New York State's first whiskey distillery since Prohibition, founded in 2003 by rock climber Ralph Erenzo and partner Brian Lee inside a converted 1788 gristmill; Erenzo's lobbying helped New York change its licensing laws in 2008, sparking the state's craft-distilling boom. Creator of the Hudson Whiskey brand (launched 2005); William Grant & Sons bought the Hudson brand in 2010 and acquired the entire 36-acre Tuthilltown property in 2017.
