Founded in 2011 by the Meyer-Grelli family (Mark and Mary Ellen Meyer, Meredith Meyer Grelli, Eric Meyer, and Alex Grelli), opening to the public in Pittsburgh's Strip District in March 2012 as the city's first distillery since Prohibition; Meredith spent two years successfully lobbying Pennsylvania lawmakers to allow craft distillery tasting rooms. Named for Philip Wigle, a Whiskey Rebellion figure sentenced to hang for treason before being pardoned by George Washington. Acquired by Pittsburgh Spirits (the Nutting family) in 2022.
